An Afghani journalist has described the news of children dying from unexploded ordinace as "an extremely disturbing revelation".
The Defence Force says it cleared the Afghanistan firing range where it's claimed 17 people were killed or injured, six years ago.
A Stuff Circuit investigation says seven children died from explosives found in the area the following year.

He said so far, there's been no official response from the Afghani government.
The Defence Force says since its time in the country, a new standard for range clearance has been put in place and it's working to meet those standards.
