Actress, director and playwright Nancy Brunning was posthumously awarded the Bruce Mason Playwright Award on Sunday afternoon.
Ms Brunning, who played roles ranging from Nurse Jaki in Shortland Street to the matriarch Ramona Mahana in Mahana, died at the weekend aged 48.
She won a Best Actress award at the New Zealand Film Awards for her role in the Once were Warriors sequel, What Becomes of the Broken Hearted.
Mourners are invited to pay tribute to Nancy Brunning at Raukawa Marae in Otaki.
