Auckland City Council has been granted an extra 75 million litres of water a day from the Waikato river in an emergency meeting.
Yesterday parties agreed in principle to supply the water - now 250 million litres a day - until October.
Auckland mayor, Phil Goff, has pledged to establish a trust fund to keep the river healthy.
