Log-carrier ship stranded at Tauranga Harbour entrance

A log-carrier ship headed for China is stranded at the entrance to Tauranga Harbour.

The Singaporean-registered Funing lost engine power around 12.30am, and is now anchored on the shallow, sandy bottomed edge of the channel.

Twenty crew are on board.
