The government continues to urge New Zealanders to make use of its CovidTracer App - despite very few dowloading it and criticism that the app is difficult and unwieldy to use.
But other government-sponsored apps have been more eagerly taken up.
In Ireland, which has a population of nearly identical size to New Zealand's, the Covid Tracker app was downloaded by 1.3 million people in the first week it was available.
So why has it proved so popular?
