Lawyers for Stephen Stone, serving life in prison for the murders of Deane Fuller-Sandys and Leah Stephens, have lodged an appeal against his convictions in the Court of Appeal.
The Crown's case was that west Auckland woman Gail Maney asked Stone to do a hit on Fuller-Sandys out of anger that he stole drugs and money from her flat.
Maney has always maintained her innocence.
Private Investigator Tim McKinnel is working on appeals for both Stone and Maney.
He told Guyon Espiner the 1999 convictions for the murders, which police say were committed ten years earlier, were a miscarriage of justice of global proportions.
