Aucklanders are waking up to life out of lockdown after the city moved out of Alert Level 3 at midnight.
But it isn't completely joining the rest of the country in Alert Level 2 - instead moving to what Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is calling "Alert Level 2.5".
There are still restrictions on social gatherings, and Aucklanders are being encouraged to keep wearing masks when they're out and about.
The Opposition says this new half level shows the government is making it up as it goes along and the uncertainty is putting even more strain on businesses.
