The Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has ordered Christchurch mosque shooter Brenton Tarrant be officially labelled a "terrorist entity".
That means the mass murderer is now featured on a list of 20 terrorist groups operating in countries around the world.
Also on the list are organisations like the Islamic State, two iterations of the Irish Republican Army, al-Shabaab and the Shining Path.
The move freezes the Christchurch gunman's assets and makes supporting him financially a criminal offence.
