Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says she will be seeking more information after the mother of a Kiwi sailor missing overseas blasted the government over a lack of support.
The Gulf Livestock One left the port of Napier last month with 43 people on board, and almost 6000 cattle - bound for China.
Three crew members have been found, but one of them died. Two Kiwi sailors who were on board are still missing.
Karen Adrian, mother of one of the missing sailors, who RNZ was put in touch with by the National Party's Simon Bridges, says she thinks the government needs to offer more support.
"I've got questions I need to have asked." she told RNZ's Hamish Cardwell.
"Why aren't we in there helping? How do I get to Japan? Should I not go? We just alone out here, with no support."
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told Morning Report she's going to need to find out more.
"These are questions obviously for me to follow up, having heard from a family member now, in part for instance, we should be able to give advice on travel and so on."
Ardern said she understands any information the government has is being passed on, but there isn't much to give.
"We just don't have a lot of information so I can only imagine how distressing that will be."
