The Australian Association of Pacific Studies says it's appalled by the treatment of Māori staff at the University of Waikato.
In a statement released yesterday, it condemned what it called 'institutional racism' inside the institution.
Last night, Victoria Stead from the Association spoke to Morning Report producer, Lily della Porta.
The University of Waikato declined an invitation to speak with Morning Report but issued this statement:
"As a good employer, the University cannot comment on individual employment matters.
"The University of Waikato has commissioned an independent review into the recent public claims about racism at the University.
"Once completed, the findings of the review will be made public.
"The University will not provide further comment while the review is underway."
