It's a sometimes strained relationship, but Aucklanders and the rest of New Zealand are being asked to love each other to save the city's economy.
The Auckland development agency hopes its new publicity campaign will attract New Zealanders to holiday in Auckland, in a bid to take the financial sting out of the city's second lockdown.
Dubbed "Dear New Zealand, Love Auckland," the campaign asks New Zealanders to reunite with friends and family in Auckland - and, presumably, to spend up large while doing so.
