Revelations that Wellington's nightlife district is the most violent in the country has come as no surprise to many locals.
New analysis of police crime stats shows the Courtenay Place Cuba Street area has the highest rate of assaults and sexual assaults.
It comes as the Police launch an investigation into a group of local musicians accused online of rape and other predatory behaviour.
Many of these attacks happened late at night in the inner city.
