A senior police officer says he may have been wrong not to charge the driver of a bus that crashed on Mount Ruapehu killing an 11-year-old girl.
Hannah Francis died in July 2018 when the shuttle bus she was a passenger in lost its brakes on its way down the mountain road from Tūroa skifield.
The bus crashed into a bank travelling at between 60 and 70 kilometers an hour and came to a halt on its side.
Senior Constable Christopher Pelosi read from his crash report at the time on Thursday at an inquest in Auckland.
