The Wellington City Council has apologised to families attending the city's Christmas Festival for a double booking which saw an animal rights march take place at the same time.
People have complained about the blunder as some of the activists carried placards with lewd messages.
Wellington Animal Rights March organisers say they had every right to be there because they applied for permission first.
