People across Fiji have been boarding up their homes and preparing to evacuate, with Cyclone Yasa forecast to hit the country later tonight or tomorrow.
The cyclone is a category five, the highest possible, with sustained winds well in excess of 220km/h at its centre.
There are already reports of flooding across the country, schools have been closed, and evacuation centres opened.
Authorities say as many as 600,000 people lie in the path of Yasa, which is due to make landfall somewhere on the main islands of Viti and Vanua Levu.
