The United Kingdom's Christmas plans have been scuppered by a new, more infectious strain of Covid-19.
While most of Britain was already in some form of lockdown, the government had intended to temporarily relax restrictions over the holiday.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson says people outside of that area will be allowed to meet on Christmas Day for a "short and small" celebration.
