US government shut down averted

A mid-pandemic government shut down has been staved off in the United States after President Donald Trump signed both a $900 billion coronavirus relief bill and a $1.4 trillion government funding bill. Mr Trump objected to the relief bill, saying some of the spending was wasteful and the amount of direct assistance for American workers included -- at $600 per person -- was too low.
