Residents of Aro Valley in central Wellington were treated to a breathtaking 20-metre geyser on their doorstep when a water pipe burst yesterday.
Despite its force, the spectacular torrent didn't cause any injuries or damage to property - instead creating a deluge of water on the street and attracting a crowd of onlookers.
So was this a case of the city's ageing water infrastructure bursting apart again?
