Pressure is mounting on management at the Ports of Auckland after a number of workers expressed fears about their safety.
Some stevedores have told RNZ the need to clear freight quickly has added further stress to a workplace where there has been three deaths since 2017.
An Auckland Council led safety review into the port is due to be released in the coming weeks - it was launched after a death last August.
Maritime Union spokesperson Craig Harrison says workers are worried that the new automated cranes aren't safe.
Ports of Auckland has refused to comment.
