The Green Party says bold action is needed to avert the accelerating housing crisis and has released a four point housing plan.
The party is proposing measures to limit property investors, including removing the five year cap for the bright line test.
It's also suggested ending interest-only mortgages, introducing debt-to-income ratios for new mortgage lending, and requiring cash deposits for mortgages on investment properties - not just equity from other homes.
Green Party's finance spokesperson Julie Anne Genter spoke to Corin Dann.
