A landmark deal has been agreed with Amazon for the Lord of the Rings television series currently being filmed in New Zealand.
A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed, provisionally granting Amazon an extra 5 percent from the Screen Production Grant, which is in addition to the 20 percent grant the production already qualifies for.
The Minister for Economic Development and Tourism, Stuart Nash, says the deal secures multi-year economic and tourism benefits to New Zealand, outside the production itself.
He spoke to Corin Dann.
