Health workers at the frontline of fighting terrible rates of cervical cancer among Māori say a new, easier test, will save lives but isn't a one-stop fix.
The government will introduce a type of swab to test for the HPV virus which causes 99 percent of cervical cancers.
Women can do it themselves and it's hoped it will rein in cases, particularly among Māori women, who are two and a half times more likely to die from the disease.
