She's a community-based midwife, a mother of seven and still finds time to be a singer/songwriter in a Rotorua reggae band.
Pam Colbert and her band tyneegiant have released a single which is close to her heart.
Called 'We Wanna Be Paid', its message is that midwives don't get paid for all that they do - an issue Colbert says has plagued the profession for too long.
She spoke to Susie Ferguson.
