Kaikohe school principal struggling with overcrowding

Teachers running out of classroom space in Northland hope the government has got them in mind in today's budget.

The region's population is growing at the second-fastest rate in the country and schools are under pressure.

The population of Far North town Kaikohe grew 15 percent in the latest Census. Nearby Tautoro School has seen its roll double since 2016.

Principal Tracey Simeon spoke with Te Tai Tokerau reporter Sam Olley about teaching in a crowded decile one school.
