Police appealing High Court ruling on written warnings

From Morning Report, 8:12 am on 21 May 2021

The police are appealing a High Court ruling that could stop them issuing formal written warnings to people who they consider to have acted wrongly, but aren't having charges pressed.

More than 20,000 formal written warnings have been issued over the last decade.

An organisation supporting children who have suffered sexual violence says the recent ruling puts the rights of offenders ahead of victims.
