A crowd of hundreds conducted a powhiri this week to mark the inaugural Kiingi Tūheitia Portraiture award exhibition in Wellington.
A little under 130 Maori artists submitted their artworks which aligned with this year's theme of 'Tupuna'.
The overall winner, a Waikato artist now based in Auckland, took away $20,000 in prize money.
