Singer-songwriter Anthonie Tonnon is the newest operator of New Zealand's only public underground elevator - Whanganui's Durie Hill Elevator.
The 102-year-old lift descends more than 60 metres into Durie Hill, connecting to a pedestrian tunnel and opening up to a short walk into the city centre.
Tonnon - a self-described public transport enthusiast - says while the elevator is a point of interest for tourists, he's keen on keeping it as an efficient mode of public transport for the community.
He spoke to Corin Dann.
