Universities are increasingly worried about a growing problem of young people gatecrashing lectures to watch and even photograph students.
Three university lecturers in Chinese politics and history have told RNZ they suspect the information gleaned this way has been fed back to the Chinese Communist Party.
That's been dismissed by the Chinese Embassy as groundless and hearsay.
