The two mariners who've tested postive for Covid-19 didn't have to quarantine when they arrived in Auckland.
They're part of a group of nine mariners who flew in on Monday before being transferred onto a deep-sea fishing vessel in New Plymouth.
The other mariners have since returned negative Covid-19 tests.
Three contacts of the initial two mariners have been identified- one of whom is a Port Taranaki worker who's fully vaccinated. All are self isolating.
