Rules around trawling virgin seabed in the spotlight

The Environment Minister says banning bottom trawling in areas that haven't been trawled before may be a good idea.

Conservation group, WWF, says virgin sea bed covering an area three times the size of Auckland has been trawled by fishermen over the past decade.

About three quarters of this area sits within 12 nautical miles of New Zealand's coast line.
