Spectators will be banned from the Olympics, as Japan extends its Covid-19 state of emergency in the host city Tokyo.
The games begin on 23 July, and already hundreds of athletes and officials from across the globe have arrived in Tokyo.
Professor David Gerrard was Olympic swimmer, he has been a New Zealand team chef de mission, team doctor and an Olympic and Commonwealth Games team selector.
