ERO using high intensity audits to turn around low performing schools

From Morning Report, 7:53 am on 16 August 2021

High-intensity audits have helped to turn around struggling schools where other efforts have failed.

The Education Review Office says it is rolling out the so-called Turnaround Schools reviews after an evaluation found a trial run had worked in five out of six schools.

The schools had poor student achievement and behaviour to the extent that one had daily police visits and another had twelve principals in ten years.

Education correspondent John Gerritsen has been reading the report.
