Covid-19: Government in talks over booster shots - Jacinda Ardern

From Morning Report, 8:25 am on 16 August 2021

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says the government is in talks about the possibility of Covid-19 vaccination booster shots for the country - but they are continuing to get updated advice on whether that is the best option for New Zealanders.

The World Health Organisation has called for countries to halt any booster vaccinations until poorer countries have received their first injections, with as the gap between vaccinations in wealthy and poor countries widens.

Ardern told Morning Report New Zealand is doing what it can to help narrow that gap, while also ensuring adequate protection for our community.
