A leading Māori doctor is hopeful that children as young as five years old can get a Covid-19 vaccine by the end of this year.
Dr Rawiri Jansen says about 30 percent of the Māori and Pacific population are aged 16 or under and vaccinating children is essential to protect whānau.
The government has hinted that rollout dates for 12 to 15-year-olds will be announced soon.
There are currently no vaccine plans for anyone younger than 12.
