Covid-19: Modeller says R number likely still under one

From Morning Report, 7:49 am on 2 September 2021

Wednesday's 1pm briefing brought some disappointing news for New Zealanders, with the first daily rise in cases since Sunday.

Seventy-five new cases of Covid-19 were reported in the community, but the Ministry of Health says that the uptick shouldn't be cause for alarm.

One case was from a household contact of a positive case in Wellington and the rest were in Auckland.

Seventy-five percent of the new cases did not create exposure events, according to Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield.
