Former Prime Minister Helen Clark is calling on people to pressure their local MP about Afghanistan.
As well as the dramatic return to power by the Taliban, the country faces severe food shortages this winter, and a threat of civil war.
In a webinar run by her foundation, Clark said New Zealand needs to play its part in supporting the most vulnerable.
