NZDF solider facing espionage charges back in court

From Morning Report, 7:17 am on 27 September 2021

A New Zealand soldier accused of spying is in court today at the Linton Military Camp.

The man, who has interim name suppression, was charged with 17 offences last November, amid suspicion he was part of a far-right extremist group.

Among the charges are espionage - or spying - a crime that has never been tried before in New Zealand.

Reporter Anneke Smith is in Palmerston North ahead of today's pre-trial hearing.

She spoke to Corin Dann.
