Many public health experts, Maori organisations and iwi leaders have come out against the government's new stepped plan to move Auckland down to level 2 and pivot to a suppression strategy of Covid-19.
They warn that an outbreak among under-vaccinated Maori could be catastrophic. Covid-19 vaccination uptake among Maori is currently only about two-thirds that of the general population.
