A life member of the Mongrel Mob who travelled into Auckland during lockdown says he worked to get people tested and vaccinated.
Harry Tam says he was given a travel exemption after being asked to help engage with hard-to-reach communities.
While there, Tam says he spoke to families, provided help to people needing isolation, and made sure everyone had food.
"There's quite a lot of people who are apprehensive about vaccination, I've been able to explain to them, in their terms, what vaccination meant and why it was important."
Tam says he was on the road for two weeks.
