Raglan ward councillor Lisa Thomson says the community is pragmatic, as the area prepares to stay in alert level 3 for at least another four days.
Three more Waikato cases were announced yesterday - which takes the total number of cases reported for the region to 45.
Half of those have been in Raglan.
"We're in a small community, so the ripples of a virus like this within our community reaches out to many, and so it has a huge impact," Thomson told Morning Report.
"We want our people to be safe, we want them to go out and get tested, we want them to be vaccinated safely and create those pathways where they will do that."
Thomson said people in Raglan are doing their part by getting tested and vaccinated, and there wasn't any more vaccine hesitancy in Raglan than in any other areas.
She's hopeful the community will reach 90 percent vaccinated.
"We hope so, we're always optimistic."
