A leading emergency medicine doctor wants hospitals to be able to give Covid-19 vaccines to patients when they turn up at ED.
College of Emergency Medicine head John Bonning says most aren't offering Pfizer injections even if people ask for them.
RNZ has been told some emergency department staff in Auckland are incredibly frustrated at the situation.
Dr Bonning says it is tricky logistically because EDs are already incredibly busy, and the vaccine can go to waste if not enough patients want it.
But he told Health Correspondent Rowan Quinn that staff are keen to try to make it happen.
