The small coastal settlement of Uawa Tolaga Bay has been hit by heavy rain and flooding.
Emergency services are continuing to watch river levels closely. If the water rises to 10 meters, they will start to evacuate residents and at 12 meters, the damage done will translate to months of clean-up.
Tolaga Bay community defence officer Greg Shelton spoke to Corin Dann.
