The man who runs Middlemore Hospital says Covid-19 remains a fierce and unpredictable enemy but is quietly confident New Zealand's health system can avoid becoming overwhelmed.
Middlemore Hospital chief medical officer Pete Watson concedes Middlemore suffered its share of problems early in the current outbreak but, with infection numbers growing, he believes the South Auckland hospital is now leading the way in how it handles patients.
