Aucklanders rushed to book getaways out of the city as soon as the Government announced the border will reopen on December 15.
A home management firm, Bachcare, says within two hours of the announcement on Wednesday they had already doubled the day's bookings.
The firm's managing director, Matthew Clews, says it was a booking frenzy.
