Where towns and cities sit in the traffic light system will depend largely on local vaccination rates.
So where does that leave our two top tourist hotspots? Rotorua, which had more than three million visitors per year pre-pandemic, is sitting at a 76 percent vaccination rate - one of the lowest in the country.
Queenstown on the otherhand is at 90 percent fully vaccinated.
