A Waka Ama championship that attracts thousands of paddlers to compete for the coveted national sprint title has been cancelled due to fears it could become a superspreader event.
For the first time in its 32 year history, the Te Wananga o Aotearoa Waka Ama Sprint Nationals will not go ahead as planned. It was due to be held at Lake Karapiro for a week in mid-January.
