Fire and Emergency is urging double-vaccinated people to train up as new volunteer firefighters to help fill a void created by the unvaccinated.
A Covid-19 vaccine mandate is now in place for more-than 13,300 firefighting staff, forcing two brigades out of action.
Despite that, Fire and Emergency New Zealand says it is still happy with vaccination rates among its career and volunteer staff.
