Covid-19: Police Commissioner Andrew Coster on Northland border

From Morning Report, 6:46 am on 3 December 2021

Police say they will work with iwi at checkpoints to make sure Aucklanders hoping to take a break in Te Tai Tokerau are double-vaccinated or have proof of a negative Covid-19 test.

The move comes after the Government refused a request from iwi leaders and northern district health boards to allow only fully vaccinated people from Auckland, into Northland.

The Government is adamant unvaccinated people will be able to travel north if they return a negative Covid-19 test 72 hours before travelling.

Police Commissioner Andrew Coster spoke to Susie Ferguson.
