The man who murdered police constable Matthew Hunt is due to be sentenced in the High Court in Auckland this morning.
Eli Epiha opened fire with a semi-automatic on two officers on duty in a West Auckland street. last year.
He admitted murdering Hunt and reckless driving causing injury but claimed he only wanted to shoot at officer David Goldfinch to scare him away.
In July, after a two week trial, a jury also found him guilty of the attempted murder of Goldfinch.
Reporter Katie Todd will be at today's sentencing for the violent attacks last year on the 19th of June.
