More and more parents are wanting to home-school their children.
The Education Ministry's received more than 3,000 home-schooling applications this year, 800 in November alone.
Among those applying are Auckland mum-of-four Rachel Cunliffe.
Her seven-year-old son, Theo, has leukemia and the family's trying to keep their bubble as small as they can while he undergoes treatment.
She spoke to Corin Dann.
